Just 24 hours after having surgery to plate the collarbone he broke in a crash on Friday, Colin Edwards is ready to race. Reports from around the Barcelona circuit are that Edwards will be returning to the Montmelo circuit at noon on Sunday, to face a medical examination to judge his fitness to race in the Catalunya MotoGP.
Edwards is said to be keen to retain his record of never having missed a race in MotoGP, the Texan having had 141 consecutive starts in the class. If he is unable to start this afternoon, it will be the first time he misses a race since 2003. Edwards was already able to move his arm directly after waking after surgery, but riding a MotoGP bike may prove too much to ask. The decision now lies in the hands of the circuit doctors, though frankly, the odds of Edwards getting approval are probably not very good.
