It's hard to convey what some applications actually do through the use of static screenshots. Take apps like Dropbox, Fiabee, or Awesome Drop, for example. It's just not that easy to explain in two images how files get from your desktop to the cloud and then down to your phone. A video demo, however, could be a lot more useful -- and some apps in the Android Market now have them.
With no official announcement, it seems like Google is playing this one by ear -- or perhaps it's just aiting for significant developer adoption before alerting the general Android-using public. Right now, there are about 500 apps with newly-added videos in the Market -- and they're also available via the Market API, so you can have a look at AppsFire's Dropbox, Twidroyd, and Skyfire pages to see how helpful they can be in illustrating an app's functionality.
