Blog Post: 14 Travel Pet Peeves

What makes you grumpy when you’re traveling?

In 14 Travel Pet Peeves, a new slideshow on Bing Travel, we asked esteemed travel editors, travel writers and frequent fliers what bugs them most about airline travel, security, hotels and destinations. Eric Lucas, Seattle-based journalist, is peeved about hotel noise. John Rosenthal, frequent Bing Travel contributor, resents the TSA security “grope down.” Laura Michonski, Budget Travel magazine’s online deputy editor, detests the human stampede that transpires around planes, buses or ships. And just about everybody hates being squished in a tiny airplane seat.

Some peeves, however, took us by surprise. Richard Bangs, adventure travel pioneer, author and producer, dislikes the ordinary. “My greatest travel peeve? When things go right. I hate it when a trip unfolds exactly as the itinerary describes … then it is rinsed of adventure, washed of discovery, and the wrinkles of danger and serendipity are ironed away.”
